Silicone

Silicone refers to a group of synthetic polymers in which silicon atoms are linked through oxygen atoms. This material offers a unique combination of properties not achieved by other rubbers—most notably, it retains high flexibility even at very low temperatures without significant loss of elasticity. A drawback of silicones is lower abrasion resistance; nevertheless, due to their temperature stability and resistance to UV radiation and chemicals, they are often used for the production of seals in the food, pharmaceutical, and industrial sectors.
