REINZ AFM38
AFM 38 is an asbestos-free gasket material. It consists of aramid fibers and other asbestos substitutes that are resistant to high temperatures and are firmly bonded under increased pressure and elevated temperature with synthetic elastomers to ensure gas-tight sealing.
AFM 38 is resistant to oils and solvents. It exhibits high compressibility, flexibility, and excellent gas sealing capability. The material provides effective sealing performance at low surface stress.
Asbestos-free gasket material AFM 38 is typically used for the following applications:
– sealing joints exposed to low mechanical and thermal stress.
– for sealing lightweight components with relatively low surface stress (e.g., valve covers, IC engine covers).
– gearboxes, pumps, fittings, and piping.
– sealing engines, hydraulic and cooling oils and emulsions, fuels, and solvents.
– for sealing water, as well as for applications where a mixture of water and antifreeze is used as the medium.
The material is available in the following thicknesses:
0.30 mm; 0.50 mm; 0.75 mm; 1.00 mm; 1.50 mm; 2.00 mm; 3.00 mm; 4.00 mm; 5.00 mm
Thickness tolerance is governed by DIN 28091-1.
AFM 38 is supplied in standard size 1500 x 1500 mm.
The material can be used at a maximum continuous temperature of 200°C and at a pressure of 50 bar.
Maximum continuous temperature and maximum pressure must not occur simultaneously.
